Fast Moving Consumer Goods giant, Unilever Ghana, has announced the 3rd edition of its Idea Trophy Competition – a global business competition.

Idea Trophy is aimed at creating an out-of-the-classroom learning experience by providing undergraduate students an opportunity to work on real-life business challenges while developing their skills and competencies.

Its first launch in Ghana three years ago saw the competition being driven by the Close-Up brand. The Close-Up Giants team from Ashesi University took home the grand prize and represented Africa at the Future Leaders League global competition where they made it to the fourth (4th) position.

The second edition was delivered on a fantastic comeback championed by the Lifebuoy brand; helping millions improve hygiene & eliminate childhood diseases.

It ended with the Triple Success Team of KNUST emerging as the winner.

This year’s Idea Trophy is a developmental process seeking to unearth entrepreneurial capabilities amongst students.

This year’s brand partner is Rexona and is associated with the Rexona Do More Campaign.

The Competition

Students will be split into teams of three and work as business managers to develop their ideas into business ventures. The focus will be on the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan (USLP) and how they will deliver sustainable growth through the Rexona brand.

The third phase will reveal the country winner who will then move into another competitive hurdle with winners from other African countries in South Africa for the Africa Idea Trophy Competition.

This will then move into the final stage where the winner of Unilever Africa Idea Trophy competition (UAIT) will be crowned as a full representative of Africa in the global Future Leaders League challenge.

The competition will give students the experience of working on a real business challenge in a multinational company, work with creative agencies in bringing ideas to life, mentorship from experienced business leaders, access to resource toolkit and problem-solving frameworks, travel opportunities, exciting prizes and networking with students from other parts of Africa and the opportunity to get accepted for ULIP (Unilever Leadership Internship Programme) 2016.
