NPP Court strikes out NPP Korle Klotey injunction
JUL 30, 2015 LISTEN

An Accra High Court has struck out an application filed by six supporters of the NPP seeking an injunction on the Korle Klottey constituency parliamentary primary of the party.

The six had gone to the court to, among others, declare Nii Noi Nortey unfit to contest the crucial polls because they claim he presented a fake certificate to the vetting committee of the party.

The plaintiffs are: Juliana Briandt, George Attor Williams, Mary Crentsil, Ebenezer Acquah, Michael Nana Nkansa and Edward Quansah.

Many have accused lawyer Philip Addison of scheming to get Nii Nortey disqualified to pave way for him to become the party’s parliamentary candidate for the 2016 election.

Mr Addison had last week told Joy News’ Kwakye Afreh-Nuamah that it has been confirmed that his opponent is holding a forged Bachelor of Arts Degree certificate,

“I do not even think that it is now an allegation because it is a matter that the university has confirmed. Therefore, I do not understand why there is so much fuss and backwards and forwards on this matter. The fact remains that, this certificate was presented to the party and the fact remains that it has been established that it is a forged document,’’ he said.

But the High Court on Thursday dismissed the injunction paving way for the party to hold the primary in the constituency.

More soon.
