The District Chief Executive of the Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo District, Hon Timothy Sampoa Laari, has re-assured victims of the May 2015 rainstorm that hit the entire district and destroyed so many properties.

According to the Hon DCE, reports from Nadmo after the storm indicates that, more than 15 communities in the Bunkpurugu - Yunyoo District were hit by the heavy rainstorm.

Meanwhile Hon Timothy is confident that, government will soon support the victims since he has forwarded the reports compiled by Nadmo officials in the Assembly. DCE said and I quote. I want to use this platform to re-appeal to the victims of the recent rainstorm in the district that, government is working hard to response to our request; however the Assembly has re-roofed all the government facilities which were affected during the storm. It is important for me to mentioned that, several development opportunities meant for us to us and develop our district is mainly used for peace keeping personnel , therefore lets all begin to re-think and settle our issues amongst ourselves rather than someone coming from outside to do so. Unquote

Mr. Laari expressed that, he has been in closed talks with Hon Joseph Naabu, MP for Yunyoo Constituency to make follow-ups on the subject and therefore, government in collaboration with Nadmo head office will act on our appeal.

Hon Timothy Sampoa Laari was speaking at the blood burial ceremony between Bimobas and Mamprusis at Yunyoo and Nagu residents.

The District NADMO Coordinator Mr. Wuni Sugri who led his team and LOM Community Radio reporters

to the affected Communities noted that, On Sunday 3rd May, 2015. About 5, 340 people were rendered homeless following a heavy down pour of rain.

According to Hon Sugri Wuni who doubles as the Vice Chairman of the NDC in the Yunyoo Constituency , 445 houses, 4 basis school, 5 churches and markets had their roofs completely ripped off including food stuffs. He explained that , such disasters were not new in the district but that the recent one was seen as the worst ever experienced . He hinted that, Local arrangement by the Assembly were also in place to ensure that further damages were barred. Attached are pictures of the disaster for readers and viewers.
