Oil companies operating on the Jubilee Field have given the assurance that supply of gas from the FPSO will resume by the middle of August.

It follows completion of works on the compressor: equipment used in extracting gas from the Jubilee Field to the Atuabo gas processing plant.

The shutdown of the facility compounded the current power crises which has resulted in an intensified load shedding program.

But speaking after visiting the FPSO, Petroleum Minister, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah confirmed that the Jubilee Partners “have made a lot of progress…they have actually completed the repair works”.

After the mechanical completion, they are set to test-run the system, he noted.

“The good news is that we might even see gas evacuation to resume quicker than we had anticipated,” the minister said.

His anticipation, if anything to go by, could mean that the power crisis is likely to stabilize from August ending.

Meanwhile, daily oil production at the Jubilee Field has been cut by about half.

The development also follows the shutdown of the compressor on FPSO.

Managing Director of Tullow Oil Ghana, Charles Darku explained that they have been constrained to produce 65,000 barrels per average on daily basis; down from about 110,000 barrels a day.
