THE JUABEN circuit court has remanded a suspected robber, Zakari Jebril aka Atambaya, into prison custody to reappear on August 8, 2015.

The suspect and his accomplice, one Kwabena Sarfo aka Sarforo, now at large, allegedly wielding machetes, robbed Kofi Akorsa, a journalist, on April 13, this year at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.

The fiendish-looking hoodlum purportedly took away a laptop, four mobile phones and an amount of GH¢800 from their hapless victim.

The incident occurred at Ejisu Township and the suspects thereafter left for Accra to escape arrest, police disclosed.

Atambaya returned to Ejisu on July 17, 2015 and was quickly arrested at about 9pm following police intelligence.

The suspect, upon interrogation, admitted that he and his accomplice robbed Kofi Akorsa of his laptop, phone and cash.

ACP Ampofo Duku, deputy Ashanti Regional police commander, said efforts were being made to arrest Kwabena Sarfo.

He disclosed that after being robbed, Kofi Akorsa mustered courage and raced after the two robbers in an attempt to get them arrested for the law to deal with them.

In the course of the pursuit, the police chief said, Atambaya hit Akorsa in the face with the handle of a machete.

The journalist, who sustained injuries, reported the matter to the Ejisu police but the hoodlums had by then gone into hiding until Atambaya resurfaced on July 17.
