The damaged door frames at the bank
THREE PEOPLE yesterday morning sustained injuries at the Sunyani branch office of Ecobank when a Toyota Camry ran into the banking hall and destroyed properties.

The three persons, Edson Owusu 27, an employee of the bank;                  45-year-old Elizabeth Kwateng a customer of the bank and 61-year-old pensioner, Sebia Alice, were the victims who had cuts on their heads, bodies and wrists. They were rushed to the Brong-Ahafo Regional Hospital for treatment.

The red Toyota Camry with registration number BA 451-15, broke the frontage glass of the entrance to the banking hall and rammed into the tellers.

The accident, which happened around 10:30 am, greatly shocked the staff and the customers and drew a huge crowd to the place. It caused traffic jam in the business district on the Sunyani Municipal Hospital road and temporarily brought business to a halt.

The glasses and the aluminum seats in the banking hall broke into pieces and scattered on the floor. Staff of the bank stood in groups of three or four wondering what could have caused the strange incident. They were however, not ready to talk to the media in line with their professional ethics.

The police quickly took over and cordoned off the place whilst                  watchers took snapshots and videoed the scene with their smart phones.

A Sunyani towing service company was quickly called in to tow the car away. Eyewitnesses told DAILY GUIDE the vehicle belonged to a former footballer of the Black Stars, George Arthur, who passed away recently.

The driver of the vehicle, Adumako Gyan, was arrested by the police and helping the BA regional MTTD to ascertain the cause of the accident.

The MTTD commander, Chief Superintendent Oppong Asifiri, said early investigations showed that the driver of the vehicle was a customer of the bank who was negotiating a curve to park in front of the bank to transact business when the vehicle strangely ran into the banking hall. He was not able to say whether it was a brake failure or not.

At the time of filing this report, the victims were still being treated at the hospital. The car itself was not damaged.
