28.07.2015 LISTEN

OTTAWA, Canada, July 28, 2015/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today issued the following statement:

“Canada condemns in the strongest terms the latest terrorist attack in Cameroon. The bomb blast, which took place at a popular night spot on Saturday evening, claimed the lives of 21 people and wounded more than 85 others. The suicide attack took place in the town of Maroua, a strategic town in the fight against Boko Haram. This is the fifth suicide attack in less than two weeks in Cameroon where such attacks are unprecedented.

“Although Boko Haram has not claimed responsibility for this attack, the terrorist organization is the likely perpetrator.

“These attacks serve only to strengthen our resolve to fight terrorism.

“On behalf of all Canadians, I offer my sincere condolences to the families and friends of those killed and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”

Canada listed Boko Haram as a terrorist entity in December 2013.
