Tema, July 27, GNA - Madam Irene Naa Torshie, the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Tema West, has lost the seat to Mr Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah.

Mr Ahenkorah secured 502 of the 778 votes, while Naa Torshie got 278, with the third candidate, Madam Adwoa Amoako, getting only two votes, in the party's parliamentary primary held at the Adjei Kojo School for the Deaf over the weekend.

Naa Torshie said she still remained a member of the NPP, and pledged her support for Mr Ahenkorah to retain the Tema West seat for the party in 2016.

In Tema Central, Mr Kofi Brako, the sitting MP, retained his candidature when he beat his sole contestant, Mr Ramseyer Agyeman Prempeh, a former Constituency Chairman, with a total of 315 votes as against 95 polled by Mr Prempeh

Both elections which went on smoothly and peacefully were supervised by officials from the office of the Electoral Commission in Tema.
