Trader and apprentice have been granted GHC 6,000.00 bail with two sureties each by the Tarkwa Circuit Court for defrauding one Eric Asem Blay with cash sum of GHC 2,000.00.

The accused persons, Desmond Kofi Fordjour alias Sika Gari aged 26yrs and Patrick Ackah alias Voda aged 23yrs both pleaded guilty with explanations to conspiracy to commit a crime and defrauding by false pretence.

The prosecutor, Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided by Mr. Justice Obeng Asante that the complainant, Eric Asem Blay is a businessman resident at Dompim whiles the accused persons both resident at Nsameye.

He said on 6thday of July, 2015, the complainant lost his cash the sum of GHC 20,000.00. The accused persons, Desmond Kofi Fordjour and Patrick Ackah hearing the misfortune of the complainant, took advantage of it.

Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah said, the accused persons, first went to the complainant to present themselves as gold buyers. Later one of the accused, Desmond Kofi Fordjour alias Sika Gari turned himself as a spiritualist and Patrick Ackah alias Voda his assistant.

Desmond further asked the complainant to bring his bag and remaining money for him to perform the rituals which will enable recover his lost money. The complainant gave Desmond the bag containing Ghc 2,000.00.

The prosecutor said Patrick Ackah recited some incantations and later tied the Ghc 2,000.00 with a black cloth. Patrick sent a witness, one Gideon Asem Blay to buy him a bottle of 8 pm alcoholic drink and 4 sachets of stricker totapack to perform the rituals.

He said Patrick took the GHC 2,000.00 tied with a black cloth from the complainant bag into his bag. Desmond continued with the incantations and removed a similar black cloth from his bag into the complainant’s bag.

After the rituals Desmond locked the bag with a padlock and told the complainant to open the bag at 12:00 noon the next day. When the time was due, the complainant opens the bag only to find torn papers.

Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah said, a report was made to the Police and the accused persons were arrested. They denied the offences in their investigation caution statement but after investigations they were charged with the offences.
