The Ruses, The Lies

The Ruses, The Lies

Details continue to emerge about the most rubbished report to emanate from a commission of enquiry in recent times.

When the objective of a project of this magnitude is intended to destroy the hard-earned reputation of both public officials and politicians, it is bound to suffer an image dent and fail to achieve its diabolic mission.

The politician and the Appeal Court Judge earmarked for destruction will definitely triumph over their hired adversary whose modus operandi exhibits mercenary traits.

The decision to ignore judicial convention, as it were, in the mark and destroy assignment was not concealed. All the manoeuvres therein were to facilitate the entry of a conclusion of guilt on the targeted personalities and save the skin of others who rather have questions to answer.

We are appalled at the extent to which some of our compatriots can allow themselves to do the dirty work of politicians and their readiness to vent their personal spleen on those they have hated over the years.

Who joined the judge in putting together the entire judgement debt report, especially as emerging details point at inputs coming from a certain retired law teacher?

Must national assignments be treated with this level of subterfuge and ruse as the judgement commission report has been reduced to?

We are the wiser – we Ghanaians – about how bad governments can, in their quest to destroy, defame with a view to advancing their dirty machinations regardless about the effect of these on the body politics.

Recalling the results of the recent search at the High Court Registry on aspects of the judgement debt report, we are astounded that things can take this form in the judicial realm.

If we may ask: Where did the Judgement Debt Commissioner obtain the so-called court documents he referred to as copious and therefore did not need to summon witnesses in the infamous Woyome case? This is against the backdrop of the fact that the certified true copy is presumed to genuinely trigger a thick cloud over the report.

Diligent searches at the Registry of the Commercial Court, Accra, have said it all about the integrity of the materials upon which the commissioner based his conclusions.

The negative responses from the registry are as revealing as they are worrying: the commissioner had definitely made up his mind already from the start of the proceedings. It stands to reason, therefore, that nothing could have changed the contents of the so-called report which guillotine role has fallen flat even before making it to the public domain officially.

What alternative conclusions can we draw about this report when it is clear that the trial judge's preservatory orders were breached with obscene impunity by persons it sought to protect regardless of the circumstances? That is the crux of the matter.
