JUL 24, 2015 LISTEN

Security analyst and lecturer at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Kingsley Agyei, has advised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to investigate and find the culprit behind the leaked audio of a meeting held at former president Kufour’s residence.

According to him, secret recordings have major security implications and must not be encouraged.

He said every party has structures and elders who meet from time to time to deliberate on policies and strategies, which when leaked, compromises the party’s agenda.

The lecturer, speaking on Adom FM's 'Dwaso Nsem' on Thursday said inasmuch as secret recordings may have a positive impact when someone is planning a coup d’etat or planning evil against a state or a group of people, it is however bad when it is leaked to the public.

He added that Mr. Kufuor could be at risk if he can be recorded in his own residence without the knowledge of anybody including his security and personal aides.

Kingsley Agyei’s concerns comes on the heels of a leaked audio from a meeting at the residence of former President John Agyekum Kufuor with some religious leaders and party leaders to initiate moves to restore peace among the rank and file of the NPP.

Mr. Agyei who is calling for investigations into the matter also cautioned Ghanaians to be circumspect when having conversations privately or publicly.

Secret recordings have been a new phenomenon in the country with many personalities across the political divide falling victim to this unfortunate trend of behavior.
