German Ghanaian Queen mother celebrates anniversary

Accra, July 22, GNA - A German Ms Cornelia von Wuelfing (Mamaga Ngojinyonufiaga Akosua I) Developmental Queen mother Sasadu Traditional Area is to celebrate the 15 anniversary of her elevation.

Mamaga Akosua was installed in 2000 as the Developmental Queen mother for the Sasadu Traditional Area, which include Sovie, Safiefe, Akrofu and Alavanyo.

In an interview with Ghana News Agency in Accra on Wednesday, Mamaga Akusua explained that the past 15 years has been tremendous and insightful performing her duties to the subject.

She said as part of the anniversary there would be sod cutting on August 8, this year for the construction of a kindergarten at Alavanyo Abehenase.

She explained that the basic for a good future of each individual is always built on two fundamental pillars: health and education… 'Without health no education, without education no way out of poverty'.

'Therefore I have focused my developmental work in building schools, several kindergartens, a girls' hostel, a clinic and other educational projects over the past 15 years'.

Mamaga Akosua came to Ghana 18 years ago because of business reasons; exporting healing plants from the Ashanti area to Europe, where she was producing medical products.

She played a pivotal role in the Alavanyo-Nkonya Peace Project.

She noted that ethnic conflicts and land issues are blocking development in the areas has therefore invested a lot of time and money into the peace project, including a school feeding project at Nkonya from 2008 until 2015.

Mamaga Akosua said a nationwide project dubbed: 'Building Bridges,' which would start in December to connect the youth of different areas and tribes through literature, music, art, traditions and customs.

She said: 'A transformative approach to women's leadership is rooted in the values of embracing diversity on the basis of age, gender, class, ethnicity, sexuality, religion and ability.'
