Elections don't influence NDC development projects - Omane-Boamah

The Minister of Communication Dr Edward Omane-Boamah says the commissioning of an Enhanced Community Information Centre in Talensi was rescheduled to prevent critics from misconstruing the exercise was for political gains.

According to the Minister, although the community information Centre in the Upper East Region town was ready to be used even during the recent by-elections in the area, his Ministry decided to postpone its inauguration in order to prevent people from reading a political meaning to the exercise.

“We didn’t inaugurate the one in Talensi ahead of the by-election because we didn’t want anybody to say that it is because of the election that is why we were inaugurating it. In the coming weeks we shall inaugurate the center constructed in Talensi”, he explained.

He was speaking at Keta during the inauguration of one of the 21 fully-equipped Enhanced Community Information Centers constructed across the country.

The edifices are expected to promote Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the country.

He said the National Democratic Congress doesn’t focus on prospects of an election in disbursing developmental projects across the country, but on enhancing the lives of the people.

“The government of the NDC led by the His Excellency President John Dramani Mahamah doesn’t wait for elections before it deploys development projects and activities to the constituencies and districts in the country. That is not the nature of the National Democratic Congress” he said.
