The Brong-Ahafo Regional command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has recommended the out-going fire commander, (ACFO) Kwame Apraku Larbi who has been transferred to Accra; as well as other fire officers in the region who are proceeding on retirement for their gallant roles that they played to ensure fire safety during their term in the service.

Brong Ahafo Regional Fire Commander, Samuel O. Adade speaking at the send of ceremony in Sunyani said: "Fire service is a family work because all activities and corporations of the service are deeply dependent on team work. People come from different backgrounds and religious orientations upon joining the service come together and with the objectives of saving lives and properties."

"We are overwhelmed with sadness because mentors, fathers, mothers, sisters and brothers we have known and worked with the greater part of our working life are either proceeding on transfer or retirement. However, on the flip-side we are happy because though you might not always be with us as you use to be, we sincerely believe that your experience will be at work and being apart equally means expansion of our networks."

He encouraged the retirees to join the Retired Fires Association and use that opportunity to pass on/share their experience with serving officers.

He said they should you this opportunity to pick up supporting others and nurture the little peak within them and start leaving the life that they wanted to.

Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Justice Samuel Adjei said the retirees deserves the recommendation because they served the region with their maximum best at a period where working resources was inadequate.

"If they are retiring today, we need not to leave them on their family alone, we will continue to remember the good works they've done as they leave Ghana National Fire Service at very intent."

"I would like to use this opportunity to advice you (GNFS) to continue with your sensitization and educational programs so that the people will understand the do's and don't s to enable us to continuing have our peace as far as fire outbreaks are concerned in this country."

D.O. II Godson Negble who spoke on behalf of his colleague retirees urged officers who are in the service to continue with the good work that they are leaving behind and also thanked them for their corporations during their term of office.

He added, "Though we are leaving the service but we are always ready to assist you with our experience anytime that you call on us."
