THE FOUNDER and Proprietor of the The John William Montessori School in Tanoso, a suburb of Kumasi, Mrs. Nana Fosu Randall, has appealed to the Ghana High Authority(GHA) to fulfil its promise of repairing the road that links Tanoso to the main road in order to save residents, particularly school children from contracting environmental airborne diseases.

Mrs. Randall lamented that the poor and dusty nature of the road which was destroyed as a result of the Sofoline Interchange Project, is causing serious hazards to pupils of the school.

The Proprietor of the School made the appeal when the Equatoria Guinean First Lady, Her Excellency, Mrs. Constancia Mangue de Obiang, paid a visit to the school to interact with Equatorial Guinean nationals in the school.

She noted that though the Ghana Highway Authority promised to return the road to its original status upon commencement of the project, they have failed to fulfil their promise, despite several appeals to the authority.

Mrs. Randall has therefore served notice that she will sue the GHA for reneging on its promise and also for putting the lives of students of the school in danger.

"They came here and said we should give them the permission for the construction of the road which I did, but all of a sudden they got to the school and stopped. Now whenever it rains, all the water from the street run into our compound posing health hazards to the pupils," she lamented.

She further noted that the school used to have three entrances but the Highway Authorities has closed down two, a situation which she said might not help for easy exit in case of any emergency.

Mrs. Randall postulated that, she will sue the Ghana Highways Authority if they do not come to fix the road to stop water from running into the school.

Meanwhile, The John William Montessori School has in collaboration with the Guinean Firrst Lady, Mrs. Constancia Mangue de Obiang, embarked on an initiative aimed at providing quality educate to Guinean nationals undertaking their education in Ghana.

Speaking to journalists in Kumasi, Mrs. Nana Fosu Randall, who is also the CEO of Voices Of Afrivan Mothers (VAM) a United Nation (UN) NGO, said she received eight children from Guinea last year who are currently studying in the school.

She stated that the school does not only enroll Guinean children but also children from other African countries, Europe and America as well and sometimes help them travel abroad to study.

The new Guinean pupils were introduced to the school at a welcoming ceremony held at the school's promises at Tanoso -Kumasi under the theme "New Age New Approach ".

Mrs. Randall said they started this pilot programme to make sure there will be a cultural exchange between Ghana and Guinea.

She said she may not have the capacity to change the whole world but honestly believe that she can be an instrument of change in the lives of suffering mothers and children.

She further explained that the established in 1997 began enrollment with only 36 now has about 700 seven hundred pupils.
