The University of Health and Allied Sciences, (UHAS), in the Volta region has admitted first batch of students for its newly introduced sandwich programme.
The programme, which will run during long vacation between July and August for three years, is to afford health professionals acquire degrees in Public Health Nursing, Midwifery, Nursing among others.
Speaking at the matriculation of 79 pioneering students on Saturday, Professor Fred Binka Vice Chancellor of the university noted that the programme will equip students to become “better professionals with deep sense of compassion and commitment to provide community services and provide solutions to health problems.”
He also entreated the students to make judicious use of their time due to the short duration of the programme, stressing that “health programmes are by no means the easiest in tertiary education. They require long hours of studies, commitment, dedication and critical scientific analysis.”
UHAS which is in its third year of existence, according to Prof Binka, is achieving academic excellence with internationally renowned and experienced professors, lecturers and administrators, who have been assembled to provide students with the requisite training.
The university currently operates five schools, which includes, School of Basic and Biomedical Sciences, School of Medicine, School of Nursing and Midwifery, School of Allied Health Sciences and School of Public Health.
