Ho, July 19, GNA - The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) on Saturday matriculated the first batch of students for a sandwich programme at the University in Ho.

A total of 79 students took the matriculation oath for courses in Public Health Nursing, Midwifery and Nursing, which would run during long vacations between July and August for three years.

Professor Fred Binka, Vice-Chancellor of the University said the short duration of the course indicates that it could be strenuous and urged the students to apply their time judiciously.

He said the course would build the students up to become 'better professionals' with deep sense of compassion and commitment to provide community services and find solutions to health problems.

Prof. Binka asked them to be disciplined and sacrifice their time for a better tomorrow.

He said though young, the University was achieving academic excellence with internationally renowned and experienced professors, lecturers and administrators, and assured the students that they were at the right place.

The UHAS has five schools; School of Basic and Biomedical Sciences, School of Medicine, School of Nursing and Midwifery, School of Allied Health Sciences and School of Public Health.
