The Ndc Propaganda Theories On Utility Prices
07.07.2015 LISTEN

The government of Ndc under the leadership of President John Mahama acting through the Public Utilities Regulation Commission increased electricity and water tariffs by between 15 and 52 percent. The Chief Executive Officer of oil Distributors said the increase could even be more. It all depends on the deregulation of fuel and utility prices, while restraining wage increases. The truth about the the increase of fuel prices every two weeks is as a result of the IMF program.

In the last six years, we have had $14.5 billion of cocoa exports, $13.7 billion in totalled oil exports and $25 billion in gold exports. Again the government has raised Ghc 62 billion in taxes, a total debt has increased from Ghc 9.5 billion in last six years to Ghc 88 billion, why then should the government run to the IMF for a bail out. The government has been compelled to increase prices of commodities demanded by the IMF.

It's quite unfortunate that some leading members of the Ndc are intent to further the propagandist agenda by which Ghana is being ruled these days. Mr Moses Asaga,in the wake of public outcry over the increases in fuel prices stressed that if Ghanaians could afford to buy luxurious vehicles, why should it be difficult for them to pay for an additional increases on fuel products. He again compared the prices of fuel products to that of Germany, and the United Kingdom. Failing to tell Ghanaians about the standard of living in Germany and UK, that he tried to compare Ghana with. Finance Minister Seth Terkper described Ghana as a shining star in terms of access to electricity in the sub-region.It is so strange that no mean a minister than the Flnance Minister would downplay the worse situation of power supply the country has ever had. For more than three years Ghana has experienced shortages in the supply of electricity for both industrial and domestic us. This has resulted in the laying of workers in both formal and informal sectors of the economy, and any good observant would see that there has been a very devastating effect on the economy.

President John Mahama and the Ndc government is also playing propaganda with the depreciation of the cedi. Deceiving our people in village that its the good work of the government that one gets more cedis from the exchange rate of the dollar. Ghanaians must know that the mismanagement of the economy that has definitely exposed the cedi exchange rate.ln 2015 year alone, the cedi has depreciated in excess of 20 percent. The cumulative effect of all these is the high cost of living in the country. Ghanaians need not suffer with these propaganda policies of the Ndc government which has lost touch with the reality on the ground. Ghana really needs a change of government come 2016.
