Former General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie is alleging that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is sharing seized textiles ahead of the Talensi by-elections.

According to him, pirated textiles the Mahama-led administration sized from market women at the central business district of Accra have come in handy for the NDC in Talensi.

“NDC has no shame; they are sharing seized textiles, money and even constructing roads at night but they will still loose” he told Adom News Sunday.

Sir John as he is affectionately called stated emphatically that the NPP is in a better position to retain the seat following the resignation of Robert Doameng Monsore who is now the Paramount Chief of the Tongo traditional area.

He indicated that the NDC candidate, Benson Tongo Baba cannot even speak the local dialect thus cannot represent the people in Parliament rather their candidate, Thomas Doanab Wuni popular known as Home Boy is the man to beat.

“I don’t even know why the NDC is contested this by-election because it is a done deal for the NPP but since they did not heed to counsel, we will teach them a bitter lesson” he stressed.

The former General Secretary said the Talensi by-election is a dress rehearsal ahead of the 2016 general election therefore the NPP will not leave any stone unturned during voting.

Sir John assured NPP members that the Talensi seat will be retained at the end of the polls.

In a quick rebuttal, National Organizer of the NDC, Kofi Adams described the allegations as bogus.

He said the NPP is frustrated at the level of influence they have in the town ahead of the election on Tuesday.

Kofi Adams maintained that in spite of the baseless allegations, the NDC is focused to ensure it wins the Talensi seat.
