How A Snake-Bite Led A Ghanaian To Invent A Solar Generating Set

Bishop Dr. Robert Arhin, of the House of Hope, Assemblies of God church in Ghana,only told a story of how one of his subordinate Pastors, living in a rural area suffered a snake-bite. Unknown to him, he had caused the birth of a unique invention that is going to save the world,especially the remote areas away from the national electricity grid.

The subordinate Pastor had stepped out of his room that faithful evening to pay a visit to a church member. The compound was dark; there was no moon and there was no electricity.Power rationing in Ghana had made sure of that. Unknown to the pastor, there was a snake on the compound. The Pastor mistakenly stepped on the snake and hewas bitten. The Pastor has since passed away.

Listening to the chilling story from somewhere deep in the hinterlands of Ghana was Mr. GodfredBiney, a product of the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.He was hosting Bishop Dr. Arhin, at the time,in New York, in the middle of 2012.

The story traumatised and got him thinking for many days. Obviously, if there was electricity, the compound would have been illuminated and the Pastor would have quickly spotted the snake before it did any harm. How could someone ensure that there is a constant supply of electricity even in the absence of the national grid?

Mr. Biney knew that there was abundant supply of sunshine in Ghana. He equally knew that the technology to tap that sunshine for use is imported from elsewhere. He again knew that the technology to tap sunshine was available in the United States of America where he resides, in fact, at an advanced stage but the supply of sunshine is not as abundant as in Ghana. There was the need to synergize the technology and the raw material supply.

The synergy of the technology and the raw material was the task that Mr. Biney set himself from around the end of 2012. Two years later, a unique product was registered with the U.S. Patent and Trade Office, the ‘Fen Energy Generator’.

Fen Energy generator is a multiple source(solar, wind, and grid) power generator. It does not use petroleum product, therefore pollution free, and green. It produces no emission; it is therefore safe for indoor use. There are no moving parts, therefore noiseless and there is little or no maintenance for years. Also, it comes with an automatic transfer switch. Furthermore, Fen Energy generator could be hardwired into an AC panel therefore supplying power into household receptacles. In addition, it can be upgraded to increase power. It comes with receptacles and USB chargers.

There are currently two power ratings; 110V 60Hz and 220V 50Hz, and three models; 3KW, 5KW, and a 10KW. The 10KW can supply all the electrical needs of a single family home in the US.

There is a huge demand for products such as this in Africa and Ghana in particular where there are serious power problems. A problem which is accelerating the collapse of small businesses, increasing unemployment, worsening health conditions and the delivery of health care to the people.
