3000 Sitting Capacity Multi Purpose Assembly Hall For K’du Sectech

The old students' association of Koforidua Secondary Technical is to construct a three thousand capacitor multipurpose assembly hall to replace the old one which is designed for just dinning but now serves both dinning, assembly and entertainment hall, this is to ease pressure on furniture as well us to offer students the privilege to go about their normal students’ duty. This mammoth project can be used for many other purposes per it's capacity space and design.

The school which started with about five hundred students now has a student population of about Two Thousand and Six Hundred. The USD 900.000 project is expected to be completed and handed over to the school by 2017 when the schools chalks 50.

Addressing the students, old students association and the media at the school last Saturday, The president of the old students association Barimah Scofray Nana Yaw Yeboah expressed joy about the ground breaking exercise and called on corporate bodies to support such a worthy cause.

A promise was made during the schools’ speech and prize giving day held recently upon an appeal from the school for a befitting Assembly hall that will give the school a face lift as well as make it a beacon and envy of other second cycle schools in the country. Even though plans were far advance to build an ultra modern edifice for the school as an assembly hall, the old students' association saw the coming 50th anniversary celebration as the opportune time to complete and hand over the project to the school.

According the Barimah Scofray Nana Yaw Yeboah, the association so far have raised Gh¢150.000 to commence the first face of the project. He further stated that, their main focus as an association is to support the school to really epitomize the sole aim for which the school was established by Ghana’s first president Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkeumah of blessed memory to produce efficient science and technical students for advance training at KNUST for our beloved country.

He used the opportunity to express the association's appreciation to the National Science and Maths Quiz team that placed 5th in the entire competition. He said for their effort the association is buying an 80 inches plasma television for the school.

The old students Association later pulled a surprise by announcing that plans are far advanced in seeking partnership, collaboration and affiliations with institutions of higher education in the United Kingdom as well as esteem professional institutions like the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), Design and Technology Institution (D&T) and others.

Cutting the sod for the commencement of the construction, the deputy Eastern Regional Minister Mrs. Mavis Ama Frimpong pledged to support the project with one Hundred bags of cement. She appealed to other Associations to emulate the gesture and support Government to make education accessible to all. She said education management is a collective responsibility that should not be left on the Government to bear alone.

The Eastern Regional Director of Education Mrs. Rosetta Addison Sackey also expressed her joy upon the invitation to join in the groundbreaking exercise but challenged the old students association to let the project come to reality since there have been several failed promises.
