Subscribers of telecommunications network Tigo would by September this year, be able to enjoy uninterrupted phone and data connectivity.

This is because the telecoms company is investing some 24 million dollars towards the development of 114 cell sites across the country.

70 percent of this investment would be in Accra; 15 percent in Kumasi and 15 percent across other regions.

Speaking to Joy Business during a tour by some officials of the company to some of the telco’s cell sites in Accra, Chief Technical Officer at Tigo Ghana, Ron Reddick indicated the development of more cell sites would go a long way to improve customer experience.

“When you have a good cell site, a lot of things work right for the consumer. Everything from quick calls, set-up, your dialing, good data experience, fast download, your YouTube and WhatsApp work. All of these work together for a great customer experience.”

At the Labadi-Beach-1 site, efforts are being made to build more cells sites to help reduce the pressure on existing cell sites.

This is crucial in ensuring that subscribers in densely-populated areas have the best connectivity possible.

The telecoms company however continues to bemoan the high rate of battery theft in the sector. The current energy crisis the country is experiencing has led to increased demand for batteries as an alternate source of power. According to Tigo some 900 batteries amounting to about 1 million dollars have been lost to theft in this year alone.
