Swear constitution, not Bible when taking oath of office; Farrakhan tells politicians

A renowned US Islamic preacher has challenged politicians to refrain from using the Holy Bible to take their oath of office and instead use the constitution since they do not respect what the Bible says.

Louis Farrakhan, Sr. born Louis Eugene Wolcott is fuming with rage and could not understand why politicians profess to believe in the holy book, swear an oath on it, and yet take decisions that contradict its teachings.

Louis Farrakhan called for a change in the status quo when he reacted furiously to the decision by the US president Barack Obama to endorse a ruling of the US Supreme Court legalising gay marriage.

“Why is it that all you politicians take your oath of office on the Bible? If the book is not good, what the hell are you using it for? To take an oath of office to uphold not the Bible but the constitution, but the constitution comes after the recognition of the value of this book,” he told an approving audience.

He maintained that God frowns on gay activities and legalising it is a show of disrespect to God.

“You mean to tell me he doesn’t have a right to tell you how to live the life that he gave you? Are you telling me that his sovereignty is nothing? That what society says means more than what God says?”

God is the same yesterday and today, he asserted, and scolded persons who hold the opinion that the Bible is old and, therefore, less relevant in a modern world.

He noted that his criticism of gays does not suggest that he is a better person but a sign of love to draw people’s attention to what God desires of mankind.

Farrakhan, a black religious and social leader, has been both praised and widely criticized for his often controversial political views and outspoken rhetoric.
