NPP-USA International Youth Conference

“Repositioning and Energizing the Youth Wing for Victory 2016” is the banner under which the youth of the New Patriotic Party will be holding their historic international conference. Such a gathering of the “young Turks” of Ghana has become necessary at this crucial time in our nation’s history: the ambition, aspirations, hopes, and dreams of these young Ghanaians keep dwindling by the day.

Despondency and alienation have set in on all fronts of our society, and on countless occasions, the government of the day has proven to be very insensitive to the plight of the youth, by its inactions, poor judgment, nepotism and greed. The array of problems is uncountable.

One would have expected that with the discovery of oil, our nation’s fortunes and blessings would have been enhanced to provide the needed impetus for the youth to realize their God-given potential. But nay, this has not been the case. The livelihood of citizens within our nation has steadily worsened from day to day. The hardship resulting from the government’s mismanagement of the economy is so pervasive that even suckling babies feel it. It is simply deplorable.

In the midst of these hardships, the John Mahama-led government continues to commit egregious crimes against the citizens of the nation. Members of this rogue government engage in brazen corruption with impunity, and with blatant disregard for our laws. With covert and elaborate schemes, they siphon the taxpayers’ monies away at the expense of social intervention programs to alleviate poverty. Unprecedented unemployment rates continue to frustrate the aspirations of the youth. We the youth wallow in poverty and hopelessness, while the president and his cronies sit on a whopper stash of public cash.

Attempts by civil society to seek accountability from the government in its reckless spending of the public purse have fallen on deaf ears. As a classic example of this government’s impunity, a white paper was issued to shield government appointees who were implicated by the Dzamefe Commission, even before the Commission’s report was made public. That Commission was set up to investigate the World Cup scandal. At the same time Woyomegate, Subagate and the other corruption scandals continue to boggle our minds.

In the face of this wanton ineptitude, incompetence, and corruption, the youth of Ghana, particularly those of the United Party tradition, have the onerous responsibility to rise up and fight to pull our dear nation from the abyss where it has landed under the watch of John Mahama; we need to reclaim our future. This fight is not one with weapons, but it is a war of ideas by which the youth will vigorously relay to the citizenry the alternative ideas the NPP professes to change the deadly direction in which the nation is headed.

The NPP youth believe that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, complemented by competent men and women of integrity, are the safest hands to save Ghana from its current predicament. An Akufo-Addo- led NPP government will never fail Ghanaians. We are more than certain about that.

The youth, both at home and abroad, have therefore resolved to join forces, share ideas, encourage each other, and mobilize resources to hit the ground running, to relentlessly crisscross every nook and cranny of the country; we will sell the progressive ideas of Nana Addo and the NPP to the people, and passionately solicit their votes in the 2016 election.

It is with this intent that the NPP-USA under the indefatigable leadership of its chairman, Nana Kwaku Agyei Yeboah, the Youth Organizer, Mujib Mogtari Sahanun and the entire NPP-USA fraternity have initiated the International Youth Conference, to provide a platform where the NPP Youth from all over the world will converge in the USA to strategize for victory in the 2016 elections, while networking and socializing with each other.

The event is much anticipated to be memorable. We are therefore inviting and encouraging all and sundry who believe in Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP to deliver Ghana, to be part of the upcoming historic conference. Let’s come together to plan and save our nation. The time is now!
