Jirapa (UWR), June 27, GNA - Madam Faustina Alimatu Braimah, of the School Health Education Programme (SHEP) of Ghana Education Service on Friday, donated food items, toiletries and baby diapers to the St Joseph's hospital orphanage at Jirapa in Upper west Region.

The items comprise bags of rice and sugar, cooking oil, boxes of biscuits and indomie, cartons of the Milo beverage, cowbell milk powder, tooth pastes, toilet rolls, detergents and disinfectants.

The gesture, she said, was her contribution towards society and to commemorate her 50th birthday celebration which falls on Sunday June 28.

She said being a beneficiary of the scholarship programme of the Ford Foundation of the United States and alumni of the International Foundation Fellowships Programme, it was important that she gives back to support the less privileged in the society.

Madam Braimah thanked all who have supported her, particularly the National Catholic Secretariat.

Ms Kate Opoku, Director of the School Health Education Programme, expressed gratitude to Madam Braimah for her kind heart and selfless dedication towards fighting for the good course of the under-privileged in the society.

Reverend Sister Albana Yalkede of the Sisters of Mary Immaculate, who received the items on behalf of the orphanage, thanked Madam Alima for her impressive gesture, saying it would help in alleviating some of the challenges that confronts managers of the home.

She said orphanage is in serious need for support and appealed to other philanthropists to come to the aid of the inmates.
