JUN 27, 2015 LISTEN

Political Scientist and lecturer at the Spiritan University; Dr.Kofi Owusu Yeboah says issues of factionalism in the NPP will go down in Ghana’s political history as the biggest act of foolishnees.

According to him factionalism in Ghanaian politics is gradually turning into madness. ‘‘Factional players in Ghana are mad’’, he noted.

According to Kofi Owusu Yeboah, factionalism in the NPP can affect the credibility of NPP’s flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo.

He noted that the NPP has the opportunity of winning the 2016 general polls looking at the present conditions of the economy. He however noted that the current crisis in the NPP wont grant them the opportunity to win in the 2016 elections. He noted ‘‘if the NPP looses in 2016,they should forget election 2020.They will remain in oppositon for about 20 years’’.

Dr Kofi Owusu Yeboah was speaking in an interview with Sir Richmond Antwi Boasiako on Royal 89.3 fm’s morning show on ‘‘factionalism and division in politics’’.

Dr.Kofi Owusu Yeboah stated that ‘‘in any greater group there are underlying principles which are commonly shared by group members which reigns supreme’’. All other smaller groups within ensure ways to achieve the main aim of the greater groups,he said.

According to him having a different ideology in a group does not give one the authority to take away the life of the opponent; adding that such move is criminal and against the laws of the country.

Kofi Owusu Yeboah said ‘‘the problem with the NPP is that they think they are practicing liberalism and that every body is educated so everybody’s idea must be accepted’’; a situation he describes as total madness.
