First Capital Plus Bank appoints new Managing Director

Rev Fizgerald Odonkor Accra, June 27, GNA - The Board of Directors of First Capital Plus Bank Limited, has appointed the Reverend Fitzgerald Odonkor as the new Managing Director.

Rev Odonkor a seasoned Banker with decades of banking experience takes over from Mr John Kofi Mensah, a statement issued in Accra and copied to Ghana News Agency said.

Rev Odonkor has been assigned the task of taking the bank to greater heights.

'With Reverend Odonkor's many skills, competences, varied qualifications and deep experiences, there is no doubt that he will drive the growth of First Capital Plus Bank,' the statement said.

A profile of Rev Odonkor who is General Overseer of Harvest International Ministries indicates that he holds BA degrees in Social Science, French and an MBA in Finance.

He attended the Achimota Secondary School, University du Benin, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Alliance Francaise de Paris, and University of Ghana.

Rev Odonkor's banking career started in 1989 as the Finance Officer at Bank for Housing and Construction, and moved to EcoBank Ghana Limited where he served in various portfolios including Credit Officer for Foreign Trade.

He later became EcoBank Head of Trade Finance, Deputy Operations Manager, Head Cash Management, Group Trade Manager and Regional Head for Structured Trade.

Rev Odonkor has served across the West Africa sub-region, managing various aspects of Ecobank's business with great success - appointed as Head of Operations at Ecobank, Togo; then moved to the Gambia as Ecobank Project Manager and later as Managing Director.

In 2010, Rev Odonkor left Ecobank to Merchant Bank Ghana Limited as Chief Operations Officer.

Since the inception of First Capital Plus Bank Limited, Rev Odonkor had served as a member of the Board of Directors, helping to grow the bank.

According to the statement Rev Odonkor comes to the Bank at a time of great excitement and growth.

The financial entity has grown from a Savings and Loans Company, pioneered speed banking and headline sponsor of Ghana Football Premier League dubbed: 'First Capital Plus Premier League.'

First Capital Plus Bank, a wholly owned Ghanaian company started as a Trust in 2007.

In 2009 it acquired a Saving and Loans License and in 2013, it secured a Class one Universal Banking license from Bank of Ghana.

Currently, First Capital Plus Bank has 15 branches in five regions but has national presence through its innovative SpeedBanking solution that makes it possible for customers to deposit cash anytime, any day through their mobile phones.

According to the statement, the bank was ranked number 10 at the 2013 Ghana Club 100 Awards and also adjudged as the third fastest growing company.
