A Call For Prayer

Feature Article A Call For Prayer
JUN 21, 2015 LISTEN

Marriage and family has been the cradle for civilization since the time of creation (Genesis 1:26-28; 2:18-24). The Book of Genesis offers us God's ideal and design of marriage. The first institution established by God was marriage. This demonstrates that marriage and family are very important to the Creator. According to the Gospel of John, the first sign (miracle) Jesus performed was the turning of water into wine at a wedding ceremony (John 2). Jesus considered heterosexual marriage as very special and divinely ordained. Therefore, when the wine had run out, Jesus turned water into wine in this wedding feast. This miracle prevented embarrassment and humiliation on the part of the bridegroom.

Heterosexual marriage has been the bedrock of every society and every nation. This is God's concept of ensuring procreation. This in addition, affords the children born into this sacred union a stable home and security. However, this sacred union of heterosexual marriage is under assault today from many angles.

Therefore, I call on the Christian community and those who are proponents and advocates of heterosexual marriage to be in prayer for the United States in particular and the world in general. Very soon the Supreme Court of the United States would be handing down its version and definition of marriage law, which will bind everyone in the country. This is an unprecedented burden and declaration from the Justices of the law. This is the consequence of the Gay Agenda and Gay Marriage, which the advocates want to champion. However, the Gay Agenda is unnatural relation from the perspective of Scriptures and the design and order of creation. Gay marriage is intrusive, a contradiction, and a violation of God's plan of marriage.

In view of this, Christians are to pray for God's wisdom and guidance for the Supreme Court this month as they prepare to come up with a crucial verdict in this un-paralleled decision. I do not want to be in the shoes of members of the Supreme Court because this will determine whether they are good or bad stewards and custodians of the legal system of the United States. Their verdict will carry out national and eternal ramifications for this nation and the world at large. The Justices are under the accountability and responsibility of the Almighty God. Finally, their verdict will have either a positive or a negative effect on the Christian church and other religious faiths. In conclusion, I exhort you to join me in praying for our nation and the nine Supreme Court Judges. Thank you.
