Moncton (Canada) (AFP) - Former champions Norway beat the Ivory Coast 3-1 to advance to the knockout rounds of the Women's World Cup as second in Group B on Monday.

Norway, the 1995 champions, have seven points from three games, equal with Germany, but finish second on goal difference.

They next play the second-placed finisher from Group F, which includes France, England, Colombia and Mexico, in Ottawa next Monday.

A double from Ada Hegerberg in either half on 6 and 62 minutes and a third from Solveig Gulbrandsen on 67 minutes gave the Norwegians all three points.

Ange Nguessan got one back for the Ivory Coast after 71 minutes.

Norway failed to advance out of the group stage for the first time in 2011.

They were runners-up in the first edition of the tournament in 1991 before winning the title four years later.

Norway beat Thailand 4-0 in their opener but were held 1-1 by Germany in their second group match.
