Global Media Foundation, human rights and anti-corruption media advocacy Foundation representing the interest of the vulnerable and marginalized in society is streamlining itself to become a global entity by the year 2020.

The move is to help the foundation to position itself to become grant-making instead of grant-seeking foundation in order support more local based organisations to enable them reach out to more vulnerable and underserved communities across the globe.

The Founder/CEO of the Foundation, Raphael Godlove Ahenu Jr. announced this during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed members of the Governing Council of the Foundation in Sunyani.

The nine-member Council has Mr. Kobina Afena-Sam, a former Brong-Ahafo Regional Coordinator of the National Youth Authority, as the Chair and Mrs. Daniela Sadegah, a lecturer at the University of Energy and Natural Resources as its Vice Chair.

Other members are Dr. Leonard Victor Amengor, veteran broadcast journalist and a former Brong-Ahafo Regional Director of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Nana Yaa Nyamaa, Queen Mother of Sunyani, Mr. Reginald Djimatey, a lecturer at the University of Energy and Natural Resources and Ms Jemima Owusu, a tutor of Don Bosco Technical Institute.

The rest are Mrs. Martha Agyemfra-Larbi, Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Director in-charge of Nursing and Programmes, Mr. William Orleans Oduro, a legal practitioner, John Abaa, civil society activist.

According to the CEO, the major challenges facing the world today such as climate change and hunger have been ignored by as he put it "the so called G8 countries.

He said the issues of climate justice is typically ignored by many rich nations and their mainstream media, making it easy to blame some countries like China, India and other developing countries for failures in climate change mitigation negotiations.

Mr Ahenu said rich countries must face the biggest responsibility and burden for action to address climate change, adding that rich countries therefore must support developing nations to adapt through financing and technology transfer.

He challenged the newly appointed Council Members to live up to expectation to ensure that mission and vision of the transforming the foundation to become grant-making organisation is achieved.

The Chair of the Governing Council, Mr.Kobina Afena-Sam on behalf of the Council Members accepted the responsibility and pledged that they will do everything within their powers to ensure transformation of the foundation.
