Constituency Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress in Evalue/Dwira in the Western Region has filed a complaint to the police alleging that some party youth have threatened to pour acid on him.

The tyres on Charles Kwaw Agyei's vehicle were earlier removed by unknown persons, a case the police was investigating before the alleged acid threat.

Police have declined comment on the matter for now, but Joy News understands four people were arrested in connection with the incident but were granted bail within hours.

Western Regional Communications Director of the party Famous Tumi-Acquah has however confirmed the incident to Joy News.

He said someone overheard the plot at a gathering and hinted the Evalue/Dwira Constituency chairman.

Meanwhile, Charles Kwaw Agyei has been suspended from his post.

Famous Tumi-Acquah explains the Evalue/Dwira chairman was suspended because, before the alleged acid attack threat, he had granted an interview to a radio station on the removal of the tyres on his vehicle.

"However goes to a radio station to talk about internal party issues [will be suspended]", Mr Tumi-Acquah explained.

He said the party is not taking the matter lightly.

Internal party bickering has hit the NDC in Evalue/Dwira constituency, a situation that has led to the suspension of eleven other executives.

Just weeks ago the New Patriotic Party's Upper East Regional Chairman, Adams Mahama, was killed through an acid attack, sparking confusion within the opposition party.
