Communications Minister Omane Boamah says the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo, should go to the Criminal Investigations Department of the Police if he wants information on the murder of the Nkwanta South District Chief Executive in November last year.

Dr Boamah said the NPP leader cannot be "supervising" mayhem in his own party only to turn around and demand information on the death of a DCE.

He was reacting to a comment by the NPP flagbearer who at a press conference sought to find out what has been done about the murder of the DCE.

Nana Akufo-Addo in addressing the acrimonious arguments that have attended the opposition party's activities in recent times, welcomed the president's promise to have justice served to the family of the late New Patriotic Party Upper East Regional Chairman Adams Mahama who died after a brutal acid attack on him.

"I acknowledge and appreciate the sentiments expressed by the president of the Republic with the promise that justice will be done to chairman Adams and we intend to hold him to that promise.

"It is unfortunate but true that criminal activities with political undertones in this country have tended not to be resolved satisfactorily.

"The latest example of this is the shooting and killing of the Nkwanta South DCE some six months ago. It does not engender public confidence that up to today there is no word on the investigation into that crime. We shall not be satisfied with anything less than the arrest and successful prosecution of the killers of chairman Adams. There should be no ifs and buts," he pointed out.

But government has not taken Nana Akufo-Addo's comments kindly.

Communications Minister Omane Boamah told Joy News' Francis Abban the comments by the NPP flagbearer is a "displaced aggression."

"As a responsible citizen, a senior citizen, if you want to know how far the criminal investigations department has travelled with respect to investigations into the issue relating to the Nkwanta South DCE, I am very sure he knows where to find that information," he stated.

He said if Nana Addo wants to know whether justice can be served on the Adams Mahama acid attack he should check the hardwork the police have put in since the incident happened.
