Kumasi mayor Kojo Bonsu has stated emphatically that demonstrations cannot stop the reconstruction of the Kumasi Kejetia Bus Terminal.

He described the Kejetia reconstruction project as a 'must do project,' stressing that no amount of objection by the traders could stop the project.

Kojo Bonsu stated that the NDC government, led by President Mahama, was committed to constructing the Kejetia terminal to better the lives of the traders.

The Mayor's comment came barely 24 hours after angry traders at Kejetia demonstrated in Kumasi on Wednesday against the project.

The demonstrators accused the KMA of putting aside the road map for the proper relocation of the traders; hence, their decision to hit the streets on Wednesday.

But in a sharp reply to the demonstrators, Kojo Bonsu said the KMA had treated the traders with kid gloves for some time now.

The KMA Boss noted that the traders could continue demonstrating but their actions wouldn't stall the project.

'Are these traders not tired of demonstrations?' he mocked, stressing that the KMA would not kowtow to the threats of the traders.

'The Kejetia [terminal] will be built,' Kojo Bonsu said on UTV, adding that compensation would be paid to affected traders.

He added that the affected traders would be properly relocated, noting that the KMA was adhering to the road map in the relocation of the traders.

According to him, the traders knew that the KMA was doing the right thing, yet they continued to demonstrate to paint a wrong picture about the KMA.

Kojo Bonsu described the Kejetia/Central Market project as dear to the heart of the NDC administration, adding that nothing could stop the project.
