Opinion Dedicated To Every Ghanaian Feeling The Dumsor Crisis
MAY 28, 2015 LISTEN

Lying on my boarding house style mattress
Laid down on the bare floor.
Who needs a frame for a bed riddled with bugs and ants.

The aluminum roofing of my house radiating so much heat I am nearly hallucinating.

On days like this, all I can do is endure the bites of the "Charles Taylors" and stare at my rusty old ceiling fan for any sign of impending rotation.

I offer prayers to deities known and unknown for ECG to" let there be light."

In my subconscious , I admit to the futility of this exercise as according to schedule, today would be a "DUM" day.

I have on my own through keen observation derived a way to predict the power supply.

Currently it stands as two days of "DUM"
And half a day of "SOR"
My phone lying on my belly is pitch black. A sign it is hungry for electricity the same way I am.

Amidst the heat and darkness, I see light at the member of parliaments house.

Of course he has a stand by generator.
One of the dividends of democracy.
My small black and white television
Sits idle in the corner.
It has definitely seen better days.
Its now my alarm, I leave it on
So when power is restored the "shhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

Sound wakes me up so I can charge my phone.
Sarah my new "catch" must be vexed beyond measure.

She probably would have called my phone a thousand times by now.

What does she know of DUMSOR?.
Trassaco valley is no Ashaiman.
In the end, I endure on my rickety bed, with the ants, my black and white TV, and my fan. Hopefully I will awake to "SOR".

Probably not as tomorrow is a "DUM" day by my calculations.
