Divisions in the New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the Volta region seems to be deepening as some regional executive members have debunked the assertion that the region passed a vote of no confidence in the National Chairman Paul Afoko and the General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong on Monday.

A section of the executives are accusing the chairman Peter Amewu of taking unilateral decisions and misinforming the public on the real decision taken during Monday's meeting.

According to the faction led by the Deputy Regional Organizer Evans Ayivor who addressed a press conference in Ho, the meeting held on May 25, 2015 by some members of the party leadership ended inconclusively as the house could not agree on any action to be taken with regards to growing calls for the National Chairman and the General Secretary to step aside for investigations into recent developments within the party.

According to the group of Executive members, there was neither a resolution passed for a petition to be sent to the National Council of Elders nor was a decision taken to pass a vote of no confidence in the two national executives.

Reading the press statement at the party's regional office in Ho, Evans Ayivor accused the Regional Chairman John Peter Amewu for taking ''unilateral actions" calculated to fragment the party in the region.'

He was emphatic that the meeting of the regional executives and constituency chairman agreed that no one would grant interviews since there were concrete decisions taken on the matters laid before them.

They cautioned the Regional Chairman to ''desist from unconstitutional illegalities in order to save the party from further turmoil.''

He said his action is rather a basis for his impeachment as the Regional Chairman.

But in a reaction on Joy News the chairman John Peter Amewu said at no point did the regional executives pass a vote of no confidence in the two beleaguered national executives.

He however reiterated that there was a resolution by the regional executives for a petition to be sent to the council of elders asking the two national executives to step aside.

He insisted there was documentary evidence to prove that such a resolution was passed.
