Accra, May 27, GNA - An Accra Circuit Court on Wednesday remanded three people for allegedly cultivating and possessing narcotic drugs without lawful authority.

The accused persons are Kwaku Yesu, an Evangelist, Apostle Paul, a farmer and Twumasi Osei, a Disc Jockey.

The accused persons, who pleaded not guilty, would re-appear on June 3.

Inspector Martin Acheampong told the Court presided over by Justice Francis Obiri that on May 21, the Amasaman Day Patrol team had information that a group of young men were dealing in narcotic drugs at Treba near Kutunse.

He said the patrol team then proceeded to Treba and met the accused persons, who were in a wooden structure.

The prosecution said the police confronted the accused persons and they admitted cultivating the plant suspected to be Indian hemp.

Inspector Acheampong said they were immediately arrested and when a search was conducted on them, six bundles and 64 wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were retrieved.

He said the police also uprooted six plants suspected to be Indian hemp and arrested the accused persons.

In their caution statement, they claimed ownership of the exhibits and stated that, they sell and smoked the substance, which enhanced their health and also their belief in God.
