NPP Tension: Gunmen Open Fire On Suspected Afoko, Agyepong Loyalists In Tamale
26.05.2015 LISTEN

Some unidentified gunmen Monday night opened fire on some executives of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Tamale in the Northern region.

The executives suspected to be loyalists of the beleaguered two national executives Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong had met to discuss developments in the party.

The Northern regional police command has confirmed the incident.

They, however, say it is too early to read political meanings into the attack.

Six regions - Western, Central, Greater Accra, Eastern, Volta and Upper West - have passed a vote of no confidence in the two following their reported involvement in the killing of the Upper East regional chairman of the party Adams Mahama.

Meanwhile, the party’s flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo has denied being behind moves by the regional executives to impeach the chairman and the general secretary.
