Akweley (C/R), May 25, GNA - Dr Nuhu Adams, Awutu-Senya Municipal East Chief Executive (MCE), has called on the youth to cultivate the habit of reading in order to improve their education standards.

'A very good pupil is the one who is able to read fluently, pronounce words correctly, identify key words and answer questions correctly,' he said.

Dr Nuhu Adams said this at the launching ceremony of 115 E-reader device and books supplied by World Reader in collaboration with Ghana Publishers, EPP and Smart line at the premises of Saint Mary's Anglican Basic School at Akweley, a suburb in the Municipality.

The E-reader is an electronic device with ebooks loaded in them and the current donation includes 50 international e-books and 50 local e-books.

The ebooks were supplied by World Reader in collaboration with Ghana Publishers, EPP and Smart lines with partnership with Awutu-East Assembly.

Dr Adams said the e-reader device is a pilot project and first of its kind to be introduced in Central Region through the initiative of Mr Ernest Opoku-Agyeman, a teacher at St Mary Anglican School in Akweley.

He said the introduction of the e-reader into the Municipality is a rare opportunity for all and urged the youth to take advantage of it to improve upon their education standards.

Dr Adams urged the GES not to relent in its efforts to monitor and supervise the effective use of the e-reader and to do all it could to ensure that the pilot project is extended to all schools within the municipality in the future.

He commended World Readers for the gesture and advised them to consider extending the E-reader support to the Municipal Assembly's Community Library.
