Kwesimintsim gets ultra-modern sanitary facility

Kwesimintsim (W/R), May 25, GNA - The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis has had its first ultra-modern public sanitary facility to help reduce health hazards associated with poor hygiene.

Situated at Kwesimintsim, a densely populated suburb of Takoradi, the 50 - seater two - storey public toilet facility has offices, wash rooms, dressing rooms, a tank, and 24- hour power supply.

It was constructed at an estimate cost of GH₵ 530,000.00 by a private developer, Mr Emmanuel Obuamah.

Mr Obuamah said at the inauguration of the facility that his unfortunate experience of not getting a place of convenience, when he wanted to attend to nature's call moved him to undertake the project.

He prayed that the users would make judicious use of the facility while according the 22 attendants the due cooperation to encourage them to maintain the place.

Mr Alfred Ekow Gyan, Deputy Western Regional Minister urged the people to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations regarding the running of the facility in order to prolong its lifespan.

He asked them to observe personal and environmental hygiene by refraining from indiscriminate littering and defecation to prevent contaminating communicable diseases especially with the onset of the rains.

Mr Gyan advised the attendants of the facility to guide against favouritism in the discharge of their duties in order not to create confusion among the people.

Some of the people expressed gratitude to the private partner as it would end their ordeal of walking long distances to ease themselves.
