This year, three Ghanaians from the Global Shapers Community in Ghana, namely Emmanuel Gamor (Accra Hub), Kow Essuman (Accra Hub) and Rosalin Kyere-Nartey (Kumasi Hub), will be representing the country at the World Economic Forum on Africa 2015 scheduled to take place in Cape Town, South Africa from 3-5 June 2015. The theme for this year’s Forum, which marks 25 years of change in Africa, is “Then and Now: Reimagining Africa’s Future.”

The 25th World Economic Forum on Africa will convene regional and global leaders from business, government and civil society to take stock of progress over the last 25 years, share insights on the present landscape and identify innovative approaches to accelerate inclusive growth while bringing about sustainable development in the future.

Emmanuel, Kow and Rosalin were invited to represent the Global Shapers Community, and in particular, their respective Hubs in various ways at the Forum. As Global Shapers, they were invited based on their proven track record and their ability to participate, effectively, in the discussions that will take place at the Forum. The Global Shapers Community is an initiative of the World EconomicForum , and a network of Hubs developed and led by young people who are exceptional in their potential, their achievements and their drive to make a contribution to their communities.

Emmanuel is a multimedia journalist and online engagement guru and has worked with multi-national companies such as Nestle, Millicom, Samsung and Google. As a YouTube specialist, he curates Ghana’s content creators’ community. He is the Founding Executive Director of Urithi Labs, a research intuitive outfit that uses innovation in media to educate, empower and employ on the African continent. At the Forum, Emmanuel will participate in a panel discussion on data revolution in Africa and how African countries can bridge data gaps to achieve sustainable development goals.

Kow is a lawyer with the top law firm, Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah. He has been admitted to practise law in three different jurisdictions – England and Wales, New York and Ghana. His background makes him an attractive option for many international firms doing business in Ghana, as he understands cross-border transactions. He is also an Investment Consultant for LAK Investment Consult, which secures funding for small and medium scale enterprises in Ghana. He is the Aide to Nana Akufo-Addo, the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, and is in charge of his Web and Social Media campaign. Kow was recently featured in the Future of Ghana magazine’s 30 under 30’s maiden edition.

Rosalin is a Hospitality and Tourism Consultant with extensive experience in tourism and hospitality management, program development and disaster management. She is a seasoned and successful leader with a track record of producing, presenting and managing the implementation of innovative hospitality and tourism business solutions and services. She has over 5 years experience in the hospitality and tourism sector. At the Forum, Rosalin will moderate the Coca-Cola panel session on “Women in Business”, drawing on both the personal experience of dynamic female senior leaders in the Coca-Cola system in Africa, as well as insights from the Forum’s valued civil society partners. She would also be a discussion leader on “Unlocking Africa’s Future using Tourism”.

The three Shapers are keen on attending the Forum and hope to participate fully in all events while there. Speaking on the MPWR Show on Y107.9FM on Sunday, 24th May 2015, the Ghanaian Shapers stated that they hope to learn a lot from the Forum and return home with practical solutions to make an impact in their societies. Other Ghanaians attending the Forum include, H.E. Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, Hon. Hanna Tetteh, Mr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Hon. Fiifi Kwetey, Mr. Bright Simmons and Mr. Albert Essien.
