Police Educates Pupils

The Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Efia Tengey, has urged children to be security conscious and report suspicious characters to their parents and teachers when necessary.

According to her, this is to help reduce criminality within communities and the country at large.

She was speaking with some pupils of Morning Glory MCDC, Teshie Nungua Estates, as part of the celebration of the school's Careers Day, an occasion organised by the school to assist pupils in choosing their future careers.

As a peace officer, ASP Tengey said the decision must first begin with them and it is that passion that would guide them into becoming outstanding law enforcement officers to serve the nation even at the peril of their lives.

She advised the children to eschew uncertainties when choosing the police as a career, as such doubts usually lead to poor performance and dereliction to duties which have serious implications in their journey as security officers.

The school children who belonged to the nursery department and within the ages of two to four years were taken through the core mandates of the Police Service, which is to maintain law and order, protect life and property, prevent and detect crime, apprehend and prosecute offenders, among other things.

She urged them to keep the police emergency numbers 191 and 18555 in mind and call the police in times of distress.

ASP Tengey, however, cautioned them to desist from abusing the lines for unwarranted favours from the police
