E-learning schools' conference held in Accra

Accra, May 23, GNA - An E-learning conference aimed at introducing new areas of modern learning to teachers and students in Ghana has been held in Accra

The conference is aimed at bridging the modern education gap between Ghanaians and those in other parts of the world.

The conference, organised by Digital Education Group (DEG), the Parent Company of E-toys & More, EasySchoolFind and Schoolboxplus, in partnership with Intelitek, a subsidiary of the Robo Group based in Israel, was attended by over 100 participants, made up of educationists, selected mostly from private schools in the country and some polytechnics.

Mr George Sackey, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Digital Group, in an address, said the conference forms part of an agreement between his Company and the Israeli based company, to cooperate and explore, as well as facilitate and enhance the technical and practical advancement of the educational sector of the country.

He said the partnership will also increase Ghana's range of schools' solutions, as well as offer to schools' and educators the best form of technological products, including E- Science Labs. "We will not relent on our efforts to close the digital divide and explore new ways of improving teaching and learning in our country and beyond", he added.

Mr Sackey said the main reason for the conference was to introduce the various e-learning programmes to the participating schools and 'then go back to each school to design specific programmes upon request, for them'.

He explained further that the platform would also champion the introduction and development of robotics into the educational sector while the participating school teachers would be taken through e-learning technology programmes that include; Human Capital Development in schools, Developing e-learning and virtual classrooms in schools, provision of e-science labs in schools, and the role of Robotics in modern education, amongst others.

He emphasized that, since modern learning goes beyond the traditional way of learning, his Company wants to institutionalise the e-learning conference into an annual event to help assist and equip schools in Ghana and in West Africa with modern learning technologies.

Mr Sackey said though the DEG is targeting all schools in Ghana, it would start with the private schools and gradually bring on board some public schools.

Mr Yoram Doitch, the Chairman of Robo Group, expressed the belief that Intelitek would replicate its successful story in education across Europe and USA within the sub-region and in Africa at large.

'It is our firm belief that this vision will be achieved using the rich expertise of the Digital Education Group, who have been working with schools for almost 15 years', Mr Diotch added.
