In the wake of the erratic power supply in the country which is gradually moving from crisis to catastrophe, Electrical Engineers and Energy Experts across the country have been called upon to bring their expertise on board to help the government fix the worsening situation.

The call was made by the District Chief Executive of Twifo Atti-Morkwa, Mr. Bossman Osei Hyeama in an interview with ATL FM; University of Cape Coast based radio station on Saturday.

Mr. Hyeama who had gone to the station to talk about some of the recent happenings in his District, finally made the call when the host of the programme, Alhaji Adams asked for views on the power crisis that has bedeviled the country for almost two years or more.

He said “the problem of electricity has been with as for a very long time. Ex- presidents, J. J. Rawlings and J. A Kuffour brought the Aboadze Thermal Plant and Bui Dam respectively to augment the situation”.

He continued, “the situation is worse now but the president who is the father of the nation says he is going to fix it once and for all and plans are currently ongoing. Hon. Essiama returned from Turkey and he has admitted that president Mahama’s claims that he was going to fix the problem were on course”.

“I would therefore use this opportunity to personally call on our Electrical Engineers and Energy Experts across the country to schedule a meeting with the president and bring their expertise on board to help the government fix the problem”. He asserted.

He was of the view that in the interim, Electrical Engineers and Energy Experts in the country can be of immense help to the situation if they bring what they have and therefore charged them to contribute their quota in the nation’s quest for seeking final solution.

Ghanaians have been facing erratic power supply for the past two years as a result of low levels of water in the Akosombo Dam and lack of gas from Atuabo to power the Aboadzi Thermal plant to generate electricity.

Meanwhile, government has signed a contract with Turkish Company, Karpower to manufacture two emergency power ships to help solve the deteriorating situation that is affecting every sphere of the Ghanaian economy.
