Things Are Falling Apart – Napo Cries For Ghana

Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South in Kumasi, has described Ghana's current economic situation as horrible and as such urgently needs a saviour to rescue the people.

Affectionately called Napo in political circles, the law maker said Ghanaians – including members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) – have been plunged into an unending hardship since the party took over political power.

He observed with pain that 'Things are falling apart in Ghana now,' attributing the development to bad leadership which had given birth to massive corruption among the leadership of the NDC government.

Napo indicated that the NPP is the only suitable political party with patriotic, hard working and intelligent people to fix the numerous problems currently facing the citizenry.

He therefore admonished NPP members throughout the country to quickly embrace peace and shun unnecessary internal wrangling since 'Ghanaians are looking up to the NPP to save them from their troubles in 2016.'

Napo said the NPP should show to the citizenry that they are a united political party which is ready to win the next national elections to properly steer the affairs of the state for the lives of the people to be bettered.

The Manhyia South MP stressed that he was sad about the seeming internal brawl in the NPP and called for immediate ceasefire for total peace to prevail in the party.

Napo pointed out that the seeming troubles in the NPP are not that serious, blaming the current trend of multiplicity of communication channels which had led to people exaggerating certain issues.

He recalled that the NPP had faced similar problems in the past, but the party ended up uniting as one force, stressing that the seeming NPP troubles would end after the primaries.

EC
Napo jabbed the Electoral Commission (EC) for flouting about 12 articles of the CI 72, stating that the commission had erred badly by starting the continuous registration of people without informing the political parties.

Fourteen days before the start of the registration exercise, he noted, the EC should have informed the various political parties about that national exercise so that the political parties should have been represented.

Napo said again, 21 days before the start of the exercise, the EC was mandated to have broadcasted the event to create awareness, 'but sadly none of these aforementioned key issues were done.'

He complained bitterly about how the EC had continually acted wrongly about all its processes, including the 2012 national elections which as a result had resulted in the public losing confidence in the national electoral body.

Napo charged President Mahama to quickly elect a more credible and competent person to replace Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, the outgoing boss of the EC.
