Accra, May 22, GNA - The Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA), has cautioned independent broadcasters in the country to be circumspect in their reportage on the tragic death of Adams Mahama, the Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party.

In a statement issued by the Executive Council of the Association ahead of its interaction with broadcasters in the three Northern Regions, it condemned the cowardly act.

It also asked members to be mindful of the simmering tensions surrounding the case, and not allow their platforms to be used to further any parochial political or tribal interests.

'Let us be mindful of the potential security threat that this attack poses in the region, and not provide our platforms for any self-serving group to exploit it. We have our Code of Conduct on political reportage as a guide', the statement added.

It also urged the security services, especially the Ghana Police Service, to act swiftly to bring the perpetrators to book.
