The highly corrosive, deadly liquid, acid, which lately appears to have become a weapon for murder is sold at obscure shops in Accra at a pitiable price of one cedis fifty pesewas per gallon.

Joy News' Kwetey Nartey who went to Abossey Okai in Accra, a place known for the sale of car parts reported the corrosive material is also being sold without any regulation.

All that is required to get the liquid is to be a customer or to be recommended by a customer and one can be given the liquid.

Even though there have been reports about the use of acid for dastardly acts in the past, the news about the acid attack on New Patriotic Party's Upper East Chairman has left the whole country shocked .

Adams Mahama was showered with acid Wednesday night by two assailants, one of whom has been arrested by the police.

He died Thursday morning at the Bolgatanga Regional hospital.

His death is just as shocking, as the murder weapon used.

Surprisingly, there appears to be no law regulating the sale of acid, despite its deadly nature.

"You don't need any form of identification or any formal process. You only need a relationship with those who are selling it," Kwetey Nartey said.

One of the retailers told him they also buy the acid from the companies that produce it and sell it to those they personally know.

Kwetey established that relationship just a day after meeting the seller and came back with a gallon of acid.
