MEDLAB Announces Partnership With Synlab Group

Accra, May 18, 2015 - Medlab Ghana Limited (Medlab), Ghana’s premier medical laboratory has entered into a strategic partnership with Synlab, one of the largest Clinical Laboratory Services providers in Europe. Synlab will become a significant shareholder in Medven Africa, the parent company of Medlab, and will support the future growth of Medlab.

In particular, Synlab will assist Medlab to provide a wider range of specialised tests, to access an extensive range of specialised pathologists who can consult on patient results, to accelerate the introduction of new diagnostic technologies, and to develop partnerships with hospitals.

Dr Rosemary Keatley (Managing Director) and Mark Keatley (Chairman) will continue to be the executive management of Medlab Ghana, and will also support Synlab in identifying opportunities to provide international quality diagnostic services in other fast-growing African markets.

Medlab, headquartered in Accra, Ghana, is also celebrating its 20thanniversary in the country. Medlab’s central laboratory in Accra, became in 2008, the first lab in West Africa to be accredited to ISO-15189, the highest quality standard in the world for medical laboratories. Medlab provides a wide range of laboratory analysis, and also provides, since 2001, radiology services through Medical Imaging Ghana, so that patients can benefit from a “one-stop-shop”. Medlab has 4 laboratories and 5 other branches in Ghana, and employs over 60 staff.
