NPP NPP must call its supporters to order - Pratt
MAY 21, 2015 LISTEN

Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper Kwesi Pratt Jnr has appealed to the leadership of the New Patriotic Party to call its supporters to order following the awful death of its Upper East regional chairman.

This according to him should be done in order to prevent further violence following the death of the Upper East regional chairman of the party.

Adams Mahama died Thursday morning after two assailants attacked and poured acid on him Wednesday night as he drove to his house.

The acid attack is alleged to have been committed by two persons including Gregory Afoko , a brother to the chairman of the NPP Paul Afoko who has since been arrested.

It is not clear yet the motive of the attack but sources within the NPP believe the attack may have something to do with last week's scuttling of a meeting between the party’s chairman Paul Afoko , the General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong and some regional executives of the party.

Adams Mahama was rushed to Bolgatanga Central Hospital shortly after he was attacked and was to be transferred to Accra but died Thursday morning.

Speaking on Adom FM, Mr Pratt said it was appalling and very disheartening that members of the same party will rise up against each other in this manner.

“What will happen if they rise up against members of another party?” he quizzed adding “I don’t understand what is happening.”

As the police investigate the matter, Mr Pratt says those responsible should not be left off the hook, they must be punished accordingly.

“For how long can we be this irresponsible in this country? If we do not take a proper stance on people in parties who violate the law, what will happen will be more than what is happening in other countries? This is disheartening”, he said.

He said the current attitude in the NPP shows that they are not ready to win power from the NDC. “They are comfortable in opposition”, he added.

“If they are doing this how do they expect anyone to vote for them?" he quizzed.
