Pro-NPP voluntary group in Germany, “Nana Akufo-Addo ladies”, have announced their intention to adopt 5 ‘orphan’ constituencies in 5 different regions across the country in the run-up to the 2016 Presidential Election.

At a function organised by the group in Potsdamer Strasse 41, Dusseldorf, the Chairlady of the group, Margaret Kumah, also popularly known as Original Maggie, indicated that the sole objective of the formation of the group is to ensure that come January 2017, Nana Akufo-Addo is sworn in as President of the Republic.

Towards this end, Margaret Kumah revealed that the 5 constituencies which will receive material and financial support from Nana ladies to supplement whatever the party will be given them, are Afram Plains South (Eastern Region), Ningo Prampram (Greater Accra), Ellembelle (Western Region), Karaga (Northern Region) and Lawra (Upper West).

This decision by the group received widespread acclaim from members of the group as well as sympathisers of the New Patriotic Party who had gathered at the venue.

One of such was the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo, who graced the occasion together with the National Women’s Organiser of the party, Otiko Afisa Djaba, Germany Branch Chairman of the NPP, Rev. Alex Acheampong, and other executives from the NPP Germany branch.

Nana Akufo-Addo, in his brief remarks, thanked the group for their kind gesture of inviting him to the programme, and underscored the importance of voluntary groups in quest to wrestling political power from the John Mahama government in the 2016 election.

He further noted that though the group was important in the scheme of affairs of the party, it must not be seen to be rivalling the activities of main branch of the party in Germany, but must, however, work in tandem with the leadership of NPP Germany to achieve the common aim which is victory for the NPP in election 2016.

Formation of group
According to Margaret Kumah, the “Nana ladies” voluntary group was started in the United Kingdom by Madam Ruth Appiah a.k.a Abaawa.

“I monitored her programme on Sources radio which convinced me to join them but distance could not permit so I decided to form one here,” she said.

According to her, Nana Ladies Dusseldorf was established in 2013 to honour Nana Akufo-Addo for his over 40 years of meritorious, dedicated, and sacrificial service to Ghana, which was cemented forever in the historic challenge of the tainted Election Results, and the acceptance of the Supreme Court judgment on the Election Petition in 2013 though disagreeing with it.

“As we speak Nana Akufo-Addo Ladies Club has been duly registered in the books of German government. Our objectives are clear in the registration, we seek to honour our noble man by helping his course to become the President of the Republic of Ghana,” she added.
