Elmina (C/R), May 17, GNA - Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, Founder and 2012 flagbearer of the Progressive People's Party (PPP) has expressed optimism that the party would pull a surprise to Ghanaians in the 2016 general election.

According to him its numerical strength is increasing and therefore admonished its supporters and members to intensify their campaigns by selling the party's good ideals and philosophies to the electorate because the PPP remains the only option to turn the fortunes of Ghana around.

Dr Nduom, who made the observation at a meeting with regional, constituency and some national executives of the party at Elmina at the weekend, said both the New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Congress could not offer Ghanaians any good thing.

He said the core philosophies of creating a just and discipline society, creating jobs, strengthening parliament and providing quality education for every Ghanaian child remain unchanged, and the party is committed to them.

The PPP when given the mandate would, consequently, offer Ghanaians leadership that would stand up to the challenges in such difficult times and not one that would relinquish the country's resources to private individuals and other foreigners as was done by other governments, he said

It is time Ghanaians realised the importance of elections and know that the decisions they made during elections significantly affects their lives afterwards and therefore must vote based on competence.

He indicated that the current state of the country is as a result of the decisions Ghanaians have made over the past years in electing leaders to manage its affairs and added: 'We are getting what we voted for.'

He therefore asked Ghanaians not to vote for politicians who come to them with money and sweet talks but rather vote for those with vision and a mission to move the country from its present deplorable state.

Kofi Asamoah Siaw, the General Secretary of the party stated that the Supreme Court is yet to give reasons for it dismissal of the application brought before it seeking an implementation of the educational provision -free, compulsory, universal basic education in the 1992 Constitution and urged the PPP supporters to remain calm.
